“Dune: Part Two”: the sequel has been officially confirmed

“Dune” will have its second part on October 20, 2023. This has been confirmed by the production company Legendary Entertainment in a tweet published on the afternoon of October 26, just days after the successful premiere of the first part of the film in cinemas around the world.

After the rumors that emerged in the last hours, it was only a matter of time before Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. confirmed the sequel to Dune. “This is just the beginning. Thanks to those who have experienced Dune so far, and to those who will do it in the days and weeks to come. We are excited to continue the journey,” said the production company through its Twitter account. So all the speculation surrounding Dune 2 in recent months is over.

First film was Dune: Part 1 , and it clearly could not cover the entirety of Frank Herbert’s novel, doubts still remained about the existence of the sequel. This was mainly due to fears caused by the health situation . At Warner they were not fully convinced of its success, as the pandemic is not over yet. However, the film managed to get ahead in theaters around the world.

Dune has raised $ 220 million. This figure is even more relevant because it is also offered through HBO Max. In fact, it is Warner Bros. ‘most successful simultaneous release to date. These data, together with the high quality of the first film, allowed the company to give the green light to Dune 2, which will again be led by Denis Villeneuve.
