Three workshops will be launched for agriculture: blockchain, artificial intelligence and the internet of things.

The objective of the project is to increase the productivity and sustainability of the agricultural sector.
Colombia will launch courses on blockchain networks for the agricultural sector in order to increase understanding of this technology and add opportunities to improve productivity. Farmers, producers and any member of the agro community can register for the workshop.
Under the name « Agro 4.0 «, the project seeks for the agricultural industry to integrate emerging technologies to strengthen its sustainability . It was created by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MinTIC) in conjunction with the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR).
In the world, these tools are generating great changes in all sectors. Now we seek that the Colombian countryside appropriates them and benefits from their implementation.

The initiative maintains that, by implementing a blockchain system , the agricultural sector will have more efficiencies . He precisely points out that he will be able to record data in an automated way that will help “to make the right decisions to reduce costs and time.” Although, at the moment, it is unknown if they plan to integrate this technology for the supply chain or the production itself.
The Agro 4.0 project is of utmost importance for the Colombian economy
Erez Zaionce, the director of C4IR, mentioned that both the agricultural sector as well as 4.0 technologies have a relevant weight for the country’s economy. Their union is key to get the most out of both. Therefore, they will not only offer blockchain workshops. They will also train in two more areas: artificial intelligence and the internet of things.
The implementation of this type of digitization in the agricultural sector will allow the development of automated processes without human participation . In this way, the initiative promises that the industry will be able to produce more efficiently. Something that will be recorded in the second phase of the project when the results of the workshops are evaluated.
After going through the first stage of teaching, the authorities will work side by side with ten national farmers to put what they have learned into practice. The objective in this instance will be to validate the benefits of the technologies in the industry and identify the particular gaps in the process of each crop.
Zaionce confesses that facilitating the appropriation and dissemination of 4.0 technologies, such as blockchain, represents a challenge. It will be necessary to “promote learning processes, knowledge management, staging of innovations and good management practices.”
It is worth clarifying that, as CriptoNoticias has previously reported, Colombia is not the only country that tries to integrate technology into agriculture to improve its economy .
