If you always have to be on your guard when looking for information on the Internet, it is true that it intensifies when arrives April 1. And it should be remembered that this day appears marked on the (unofficial) calendar of a good part of the world as the April Fool oh day of jokes.

So today anyone can be the victim of a prank, whether at home, on the street, at work and even on social networks. Something that here in Spain might remind you of the Day of the Holy Innocents which is celebrated every December 28, in which everyone ends up playing a hilarious moment.

This April 1st is therefore a day marked by deception, jokes and a hilarious statement creating the famous fake news. It is true that the usual practice of publishing fake and funny news every December 28 was abandoned long ago in Spain, but not in other countries.

It is precisely this reason that justifies that every April 1 some people and even prestigious companies of ddifferent parts of the world, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Portugal, Brazil, Germany and many more send constant thanks.

The origin of International Jokes Day

It’s an unofficial celebration in which it’s all about the jokes, both getting them and making them. For years, it has become a trend in different corners of the world, a reason why more and more people are joining this practice.

The origin of this striking party is based on several theories, although the most popular explanation is when France decided to modify its Julian calendar the start date of the new year. To do this, you must travel back in time, more precisely to the end of the 16th century.

This change implied the transfer of the dates of very important celebrations, among which, of course, was that of New Year, which until then was held between March 35 and April 1. However, not everyone immediately embraced this change, with some continuing to give welcome the new year on April 1, not January 1as we know it now.

But these laggards, who refused to make the switch, soon became the object of ridicule and deception by the rest of the citizens. And so it is that terms like April Fool (fool’s day) or April Fool (April Fool).

So, stay tuned and doubt everything they tell you today, because you could be the victim of a hoax.
