He was caring for a 97-year-old woman, gained her trust, but defrauded her and stole more than $200,000, according to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.
The son of the scammed woman began to observe an unusual movement of money in his mother’s account and reported it. The person arrested was a home helper and according to his Linkedin profile, he worked for a private company in Doral.
This is the person we are going to talk about. Her name is Natsky Nelson and she is accused of financial exploitation against a 97-year-old woman, who has already died.
Miami Dade State’s Attorney Katherine Fernández-Rundle says:
“We are not going to allow these crimes to go unpunished.”
Miami Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava says:
“We live in a place where there is a lot of danger for vulnerable people.”
There is also an arrest warrant against another person, José Pierre-Toussaint. The Miami police chief explained that the arrested woman would have gained the confidence of the lady she was caring for to extract $216,000 from her and defraud her.
Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales said: “And she started using the ATM card to withdraw money and the evidence shows that many days that money was withdrawn from the ATM, it was deposited into the account from which she was arrested.”
Transactions in total, confirmed by Fernández-Rundle; but they also allegedly used an electronic payment method to get more money from the lady, and apparently pass it off as care services and transfer it to Natsky Nelson’s account.
Miami Police Inspector Sonia Fernández says:
“I started the investigation in August 2022 and it is necessary to proceed transaction by transaction on several accounts.”
