With anime reaching more and more markets, the industry has become a constant struggle for licensing.
Anime is no longer something only a few crazy people watch. Anime is a global phenomenon that generates millions of people around the world in a year., and who is able to create trends that cross all kinds of social barriers. I think along these lines, “naruto“in the United States is an anime that has proven to appeal to ALL types of audiences in one way or another. That being said, It seems that in Spain we will soon have the revelation of AnimeBox, a potential new service of which nothing is known at the moment.
AnimeBox may soon expand options for watching anime in Spain
Before I comment on what we know about AnimeBox and what people are speculating about it, I’ll leave you with the official trailer which they shared before their revelation:

- To begin with, it must be said that for the moment we don’t know what AnimeBox is. A lot of people are betting on an anime streaming service seen these days, and it wouldn’t be a surprise.. However, I wouldn’t rule out a somewhat different option either.
- In the tweet in which this teaser was shared, it is expected that AnimeBox will present ‘a new idea‘ which will arrive this spring (i.e. in a few weeks). The truth is that today streaming has little new concept and less in anime, so I propose something different: a service through which, in the form of a subscription, one receives monthly packages at home with “random” animated content. This is something that obviously already exists with many different types of products, but I don’t think I’ve seen it before to collect anime on DVD or Blu-ray. Of course, that’s just my idea.
- On the other hand, the folks at RRSS also assume that whatever AnimeBox is ultimately, surely we are talking about something by the hand of Selecta Visión. The reason? Well, the anime that appear in the teaser are all licensed in the possession of the distributor in Spain.
- Finally, I would point out that on AnimeBox official website we will find a countdown that concludes the March 23, 2023, at which time the service will be revealed in full.
The truth is, I’m not thrilled to think that anime shows could be split into another platform in Spain, but If it is useful for HI-DIVE anime (for example) to reach our country well, I think the idea is not bad. In any case, we will still have to wait almost a week to find out what AnimeBox really is.
