NEW JERSEY – New Jersey, THE homeland of zombies?

The beloved “Walking Dead” franchise is said to have expanded north to Garden State, where multiple-point production is underway.

A trailer has been released for the latest post-apocalyptic entry, “The Walking Dead: The Dead City“, which sees fan-favorite characters Maggie Rhee and Negan Smith return for more undead adventures.

This time they’re running from zombies, or should we say walkers, in the Big Apple.

“We’re coming out of the woods and into New York, which has been a lot of fun,” Morgan teased in a clip.

In the first show set after the events of “The Walking DeadComing to an end last fall after 11 seasons and countless gruesome deaths, stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan swapped the familiar Atlanta sets for Manhattan lookalikes.

Filming for the sprawling franchise’s “Dead City” took place across the river in New Jersey, NJ.com reports. The show’s production spanned at least nine different counties.

“Dead City” is not the only one. Hot on its heels is the upcoming spin-off starring Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira’s Michonne. Both shows were reportedly filmed at the old Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford.

AMC has released the new trailer along with a premiere date for the six-episode season: June 18.
