SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – Utah Governor Spencer Cox and Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson met with teachers in Kaysville to make historic announcements as part of the new 2024 budget.

Cox announced a compensation increase of $6,000 for every teacher in the state, this includes about $4,600 in salary plus benefits.

The governor also said that it is not a secret that the country is having a shortage of teachers, and that, in order to have good teachers, you have to pay for them.

This proposal to increase the salary of each teacher is also accompanied by other initiatives, which he will share on a large scale on Friday about his general investment plan, where topics such as housing, water conservation, and more will be addressed.

This salary increase for teachers will have to go through the legislature next year to be approved, but the governor was very confident that these proposals will come true.
