NEW YORK – Two construction workers lost their lives on Monday after being trapped in a ditch following a collapse at JFK airport in Queens.
The incident happened around 11:25 a.m. and a dozen units with 60 firefighters rushed to the scene, but the workers could not be saved. Our Telemundo 47 helicopter flew over the area and shows the emergency team trying to get employees out.
The identity of the victims has not been released.
A stop order has been issued for all construction at JFK airport. For its part, the Port Authority is conducting a thorough investigation and will cooperate with all other investigative agencies to find the cause of the incident.
This is a case under investigation.
