Lawyers for the bird’s social network asserted that the allegations made are “vague and imprecise” and that the plaintiffs do not even attempt to define a class or range of employees.

Twitter asked a California Federal Court to dismiss the lawsuit filed by more than 100 former company employees due to the “mass layoffs” that took place with the arrival of the new CEO, Elon Musk.

The company’s lawyers argued that the situation of the workers is not so similar and that, therefore, it does not meet the requirements to be considered as a class action, according to information from The New York Post.

In addition, Twitter’s lawyers assured that the allegations presented are “vague and imprecise” and that the plaintiffs do not even try to define a class or range of employees, but refer to “other Twitter workers in a similar situation”, according to what they said. one of the lawyers from the platform to the court.

According to The New York Post, the group of employees who filed the lawsuit includes both workers who have already been fired and others whose situation will not be effective until the beginning of 2023. Therefore, they ask that the case be dismissed or transferred to a Delaware state court.

“We stand ready to fight them one by one, on behalf of potentially thousands of employees if that becomes necessary. Elon Musk is not above the law,” the lawyer representing the employees, Shannon Liss-Riordan, shared in a message quoted on Twitter.

The lawsuits by former employees come after Twitter laid off almost half of its staff in November, following the acquisition of the company by Elon Musk. Later, the employer formalized hundreds more dismissals offering an ultimatum to do “extremely hard” work or leave the company.

According to CNN, the former employees scored an early victory this December when a judge ruled in their favor, ordering the company to inform all fired employees of the ongoing lawsuit. That is, guarantee that workers are better informed before signing a dismissal agreement that includes the waiver of possible legal claims.

Following the wave of layoffs, Elon Musk told staff at a general meeting that the company does not plan any more layoffs and is hiring for engineering and ad sales positions, according to a tweet by a reporter for The Verge.

According to Bloomberg, the resignations were especially numerous in the technical departments, while in others, such as sales, more employees opted to continue in the company.

According to a Bloomberg source, an internal count puts the total number of Twitter employees at about 2,750, although some of the latest casualties may not be included in that figure. Before being acquired by Musk, the company had a workforce of more than 7,000 people.

The resignations also continue, with new departures of senior managers such as the general director of Twitter in France, Damien Viel.
