California is facing an affordable housing crisis. The high costs of buying a home in the state have prompted thousands of people to decide to move to other states.

To counter this, California Senators Alex Padilla and Dianne Feinstein announced that public housing agencies across the state would receive a total of $95 million.

Funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will help “develop, finance, and modernize public housing projects and improve management throughout California,” the statement said.

“The homelessness crisis and the need for affordable housing has reached epic proportions and we must do everything we can to meet these needs,” said Senator Feinstein. “We will continue to push for federal support to help Californians deal with this emergency.”
