The son of a famous New York restaurateur died over the weekend following a “tragic accident” in Madison Square Garden after a hockey game, authorities said.

New York police responded to a 911 call for an injured person in the indoor arena at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, shortly after a Rangers game ended.

Officers found Ernest Vogliano Jr., 61, “unresponsive and unresponsive with severe head trauma.” He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was pronounced dead. Vogliano is the son of Ernest Vogliano, the former owner of the temporarily closed Il Vagabondo in Manhattan.
