With the arrival of the brand new part of JoJo’s Le Bizzarre Avventure, called “The JoJoLands” and presented as part 9 of the famous Hirohiko Araki series, we can finally see more clearly what this new story will talk about. In the first chapter several characters are already introduced besides the protagonist, and in addition we are also revealed some important details inherent to them.

Araki in fact shows us immediately some stands that will make their appearance in the next chapters, starting with that of the protagonist Jodio Joestar and his brother Dragona Joestar. As for the other parts, also in The JoJoLands we can therefore witness the use of extravagant and at the same time powerful skills, and from the particular features originating from Araki’s artistic mind.

In chapter 1 of The JoJoLands we are explained how the Paco stand works, but as regards the others presented, a too comprehensive explanation has not yet been given. So let’s go see what exactly their skills are.

Stand skills in The JoJoLands

As we all know, stands are a particular skill that has always been present in the JoJo series. It is a sort of spiritual entity that each character can manifest and assist him in combat, and arise from a random genetic mutation that can occur in a person. Not everyone can show a stand and the mutation appears to be hereditary. However, those who show a stand must be able to control it in order to use it effectively.

Having said that, we still don’t know how Jodio, Dragona and the others got their stands; however, they are able to use them in a decidedly skillful way, since they exploit them to commit criminal actions of all kinds.

  1. November Rain is the stand of Jodio Joestar. From what we can see, it appears as the very first stand without a properly humanoid form possessed by a protagonist of the JoJo series. Johnny’s eventually evolved into something with a human form, and if Araki doesn’t want to take a different direction with The JoJoLands, perhaps this could also be the case with November Rain.
The only likely human trait we can see is its head, connected to a half bust surrounded by feathers, attached to a strange cone structure below. Then come four long legs similar to a spider.
His ability has not yet been explained, but from the manga we can at least deduce what his power is, clearly linked to the rain. In a panel we see how he manages to “ destroy ” with a shower of shots a policeman, and his ability seems to have been nicknamed “ Heavy Rain ” by the online community, given the heaviness with which the “ drops ” have fallen.

  1. Smooth Operators is the stand of Dragona Joestar, Jodio’s older brother, and appears as a stand capable of “ reconfiguring ” things and people. Its appearance seems less impressive than that of the Jodio stand, appearing mostly as a series of robots with humanoid features, with arms and head but tracks instead of legs and feet.
His ability, as we have said, is to reconfigure anything, and in this way he manages to modify and move things by grasping them and moving them in the desired direction. Dragona used it to change the license plate of the car, modify his license and do a small “ aesthetic operation ” to a policeman. It seems that his ability can be activated to the touch, since we see it used while the character scratches something.

  1. The Hustle is the stand of Paco Lovelantes, one of the criminals of Mechanism who will very soon also be a companion of Dragona and Jodio. Its real appearance has not been shown, and in chapter 1 we see how Paco uses it through his own body.
This stand allows Paco to use his muscles to grab anything, even going so far as to allow him to do this using his elbows or the front of his hands. So far this is the most mysterious stand introduced, since it is not clear even how long Paco can keep it active, or how many muscles he can use at best before reaching the limit.

Finally, the stand or the type of skill that the fourth member of the newly formed criminal team could have remains unknown: the so-called “ hot dog boy ” still does not have a real name, but perhaps from the next chapter we will be able to find out more about him and the skills that would make him so useful to Jodio, Dragona and Paco.
