The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the victim was identified as Isaac Zetino, 16.

A graduation party in Houston, Texas, ended in tragedy after a shooting that left a teenager dead, local authorities reported.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office reported in a statement that the victim was identified as Isaac Zetino, 16.

The events occurred after several teens attended a graduation party Saturday morning when gunshots rang out around 1:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office said.

Despite being rescued, Zetino could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene, ABC News reported.

“During the meeting, shots were fired outside the residence resulting in a 16-year-old white male victim suffering a gunshot wound,” the sheriff’s office specified. “Medical personnel were summoned to the site for lifesaving measures without success.”

Zetino, who was not a resident of the residence where the shooting occurred, was at the site of the post-prom party, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

Meanwhile, investigators determined that Zetino and another juvenile had a “disturbance” with the father of a woman at the party.

During the altercation that ensued, both parties pulled out guns and fired at each other, police said.

Although the identity of any suspects has not been released, investigators located an adult male who exchanged gunfire with Zetino and another juvenile who was involved in the incident.

“The individual cooperated with investigators and provided a statement that said, in part, that he acted in self-defense when he was shooting. This statement was corroborated by the findings at the scene,” Gonzalez said in a statement.

So far, the incident is under investigation, and once concluded, the suspect will be presented before a grand jury on possible charges, police said.
