Target has joined the list of retailers in the United States that is terminating some of its branches this 2023. We tell you which locations are affected

Target has joined the wave of retail store closures in the United States. The U.S. company, which has a presence in every state in the country, announced that it will close four of its stores between March and May. Globe Live Media will tell you who will be affected.

According to the company, the stores that will be permanently closed are located in three metropolitan areas: two near DC, one in Philadelphia and one in Minneapolis. For the reason for the closures, the company explained that it was due to a decrease in traffic.

“The decision to close one of our stores is not something we take lightly,” Target spokeswoman Kayla Castaneda told Insider. “It’s an action we take only after several years of work to improve performance,” Castañeda said.

According to the Star Tribune, the Target, which is located at 1300 W Lake St. in Minneapolis, will close for good on May 13.

According to the Star Tribune , Minneapolis Target, which occupies the second floor beneath an apartment complex, is one-sixth the size of a standard store.

“The decision to close any of our stores is not something we take lightly,” a Target spokesperson told Best Life . “It’s an action we take only after several years of work to improve performance.”

Now, if we talk about the state of Philadelphia, according to information published by the Philadelphia Business Journal, the Philly store , located at 1128 Chestnut Street, is another store that will close its doors for good next May 13. It is also a small format store.

Two other stores in the area, the one located at Rittenhouse Square and another at Broad Street and Washington Ave. have shown better performance, Target told the Philadelphia Business Journal, than the one that will close permanently.

Now, in DC, two more stores will close: one that is located at 7501 Baltimore Ave. in College Park, Maryland, which is home to the University of Maryland and another location, which is at 500 S Washington St. in Falls Church, Virginia, a city that is located just outside of Washington, DC. These branches will lower their curtains for good on May 13.

Employees at all of these branches will be given the option of terminating their employment or moving to locations that remain employable.

“We value the team members at these stores and they will be offered the opportunity to work at nearby Target locations,” the spokesperson said of all the upcoming closures. “We remain committed to these areas, including the more than 50 stores we operate in each metropolitan area.”

They also confirmed that these are the only closures Target has planned for fiscal 2023.

In recent days, CVS and Walmart announced they were closing some of their U.S. stores due to underperformance.
