At this point there is no need to introduce Tainy. He is one of the most acclaimed producers in the music industry in recent years. Behind the sound of some of the greatest hits of the past decade lies this spirit. The artist has participated in great songs such as Water by J Balvin, summer of love by Shawn Mendes or Callaita of Bad Bunny, proving to be one of the great minds of the urban genre.

Today, the producer faces a new challenge: advising a group of artists who want to make a name for themselves in the urban music industry by In the businessNetflix’s new musical talent, which premiered on April 4.

Thanks to this program, we were able to discuss a moment with the producer on this new facet. But we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to ask him one of the questions we’ve asked ourselves the most: How does an artist come into contact to collaborate with such a sought-after producer, is it he who calls him? Or have you ever been told no once you made yourself known?

Tainy responds: are they calling him or is he calling?

Question (Q): Tainy, I want to know what your creative process is: do you get in touch with the artists or do the artists get in touch with you?

Tainy: It really varies. There are days when an idea pops into my head and I think of a specific person and send it to them. I tell him “I thought of you, this idea came to me and we connected”. Other times I think of an idea for one artist and it ends up in the hands of another. Just like they tell me they’re going to start working on a project and they’re looking for something. And we begin to create. Other times it happens because we coincide in the same area. Whether in Miami, Los Angeles or Puerto Rico. And we go to the studio to see what comes out. We create in the moment. There are different ways to create a song. That’s the good thing, that there is no routine. Otherwise, it would be more boring. The unexpected and spontaneous way in which the songs arise seems very cool to me. That’s why I still work here. You never know where an interesting collaboration may come from.

Q (Question): And have you ever been told no?

Tainy: There is never a definite “no”. There is only a “no” if we are not on the same page creatively. Maybe That’s not what we’re looking for or I don’t make music. Maybe this type of stuff. But thank God I have been able to work with many artists who are always ready to tell me what they think. Sometimes I was told “it’s not the time to work on that or I don’t see it in this project”. You can always talk about these processes, which is the most important.
