when it was announced Street Fighter 6 think :”well, another Street Fighter, as long as they do the same as with V, it’s over: go over the box several times to get the full game“, and little by little I forgot about the new fighting game of Capcom which is, now yes, just around the corner. And let’s see, I still don’t like the policy of launching games and adding content later, in fact we still don’t have the new game in the market and we already “know” what the plans are for Japanese society in this regard.
But today I didn’t come here to talk to you about whether I more or less like games to come out empty of content, but about the content that I was able to test. thanks to the demoand even if it’s quite brief, it’s better than nothing.
I went to work like any mortal thinking that as a good Street Fighter II champion in my city, I wouldn’t need to play the tutorial, but I said, ‘come on, teach me something I don’t know’.. .. and then Ryu and Luke first kicked me all over the mouth. The tutorial starts with the basics: jumping, throwing forwards, backwards, covering, grabbing, doing some combination moves, and then the magic happens: the new Drive system. Just below the health bar there is a new indicator, that of Drive, which will allow us to make new moves. Here I explain it to you:
- Generate impact – It is a blow that can absorb the opponent’s blow
- lead the parade – when we get a Drive attack, we use this movement to repel the opponent’s attack and fill our Drive bar
- Las Overdrive Arts – they are similar to EX moves from previous titles, which serve to boost special moves
- Drive reversal This is the definitive movement to execute a counter-attack that will allow us to escape from shady situations.
Oh really, the Drive theme took the blindfold off me: Street Fighter 6 is not a copy-paste from the previous title and it shows. The last movement mentioned, the Drive Reversal, will allow us to escape, for example, if we are stuck against a corner of the stage with a direct hit to the opponent and we will be able to “breathe” a little.
Another thing I didn’t like about Street Fighter 6, and didn’t like about previous games, was the player aspect., actually I was amazed when I saw what Akuma will look like; I got used to Ryu looking silly while in SF II he looked serious, what can you do. But thanks to the new graphics engine used, this title goes even further than what has been seen so far and if you watch a video or play it yourself you will see how, for example, you can even see Luke moving his toes. Another notable aspect is the sweat of the characters sliding on the skin, or the cherry blossom petals on stage that can be played in the demo which seem to be synchronized with the movement of the characters. A real madness that I hope you will discover yourselves.
To finish and not get too heavy, I just want to tell you to try the demo, available now on PlayStation and soon on Xbox and Steam. If you are a fan of the saga you will thank me, if you discover it now I am sure you will like it too if you like fighting games or want to try something new. Oh really, This Street Fighter 6 could be this good, I didn’t see it coming.
