Shooting in California

LOS ANGELES, California – Authorities are advancing the investigation of the mass shooting at an Orange office building, southeast of Los Angeles, that left four dead, including a child, and two seriously injured, including the assailant.

Four people, including a child, were killed in a mass shooting at an office complex in Orange, California, on Wednesday, a police official said.

Police have not reported so far what the motive for the shooting or the identity of the suspect may have been. Nor have the victims of the shooting been identified.

When police arrived at the two-story building around 5:30 pm, shots were being fired, Lt. Jennifer Amat reported. The officers opened fire and the suspect was taken to a hospital.

It was unclear if the suspect injured himself or was killed by police. Authorities did not provide details on the victims beyond saying that one of the dead was a child and that a woman was seriously injured.

Police do not yet have details about the confrontation, what may have caused the attack or why there was a child at 202 West Lincoln Avenue. Signs outside the property indicated the presence of various businesses including an insurance brokerage, a financial consultancy, a legal advisory service and a cell phone repair shop.
