Dodgers Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda will officially have a stretch of the 5 Freeway dedicated to him on Saturday.
The California Legislature passed a bill in 2021 to designate a section of the Fullerton Freeway as the Tommy Lasorda Memorial Highway.
Lasorda has lived in Fullerton since the Dodgers headed west in 1958. He has won two world championships, four National League championships, eight division titles and played in 1,599 games.

“Fullerton held a very special place in Tommy’s heart, and we know how proud he would be to be here today,” Los Angeles Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten said in a statement. a statement.
The bill honoring Lasorda was drafted by Los Angeles and Orange County Representative Sharon Quirk-Silva.
“Tommy Lasorda embodied the spirit and love of the game of baseball, dedicating his life to the game managing one of baseball’s most successful franchises and encouraging the success of its players,” Quirk-Silva said in a statement. “It was Lasorda’s humanitarianism and spirit of goodwill towards children around the world that made him a legend.”
The Los Angeles Dodgers have partnered to help fund this permanent memorial in Fullerton. The exact location of the sign is Interstate 5 southbound before the Lincoln Avenue exit and Interstate 5 northbound before the Ball Road exit.
Saturday morning’s ceremony will kick off the opening ceremonies for the West Fullerton Little League at James Carter Field.
