resident Evil is a franchise that we all know more for its video games, but over the years since Capcom They greenlighted a series of CGI movies that have carved a place in the hearts of many fans. That’s why today I want to do a review of the right order to see all these feature filmsbecause as they are identified more than anything else by a series of titles that have little indication of their chronology, I think it can help more than one.
(Content must be viewed in the order in which it is listed)
Biohazard 4: Incubate
We start with what more than a Resident Evil movie itself, it’s about a complete OAV with a very clear objective: to summarize the events of Resident Evil 4. This OVA includes many original scenes from the video game, but it was also responsible for expanding the content by filling in some plot-level “gaps”, such as the location of the children. Given that the films primarily have Leon as the main protagonist, this is the perfect starting point.
- Date of issue: Posted on September 28, 2006.
- Duration: 1 hour and 37 minutes.
- Where to watch the OVA: You can find it in full on this youtube channel.
Resident Evil Masterpiece Theater
I couldn’t agree more with the distinctive “masterpiece” in this case, as we’re talking about these short films released in 2023 on the occasion of the release of Resident Evil 4 Remake. Basically, this time what we see is a series of unrelated stories of Leon, Ashley, and the townspeople in which Leon is still getting scalded. If you just wanna lay down some laughs with a series of really funny scenes, I highly recommend this.
Resident Evil: Degeneration
“Degeneration” is the Resident Evil movie that follows the events of Resident Evil 4, set in the fall of 2005 (one year after the game’s timeline). In this feature film, Leon is accompanied by Claire, and the mystery to be investigated will be the reason why an airport in the United States has suddenly become a new source of zombie infection.
- Date of issue: Posted on October 18, 2008.
- Duration: 1 hour and 36 minutes.
- where to see: There are several options to see Degeneration, but all of them require the purchase or rental of the film. You can find it, for example, in First video oh Rakutenbut if you even want to make the collection they have it available in El Corte Inglés.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness
‘Infinite Darkness’, or ‘Infinite Darkness’ as it has become better known in the West, reunites the agent duo of Leon and Claire. On this occasion, however, We changed the format of the film to ONA, which takes place over 4 episodes. This “mini” anime takes place during the year 2006, chronologically 2 years after the events of Resident Evil 4 and just before what happened in Resident Evil 5. As always, Leon and Claire will have the mission to investigate on a new outbreak of zombie infection.
Resident Evil: The Curse
For “Resident Evil: The Curse” (Damnation) we return to the feature film format. This time, Léon will be “alone”, since he will not have Claire’s support for the investigation, even if this feminine absence will be compensated thanks to Participation of Ada Wong. In “Damnation”, we will see Leon disobey the United States government after being ordered to withdraw from the investigation of a series of biological weapons.
Resident Evil: Vendetta
Resident Evil: Vendetta is a film that brings together three characters known to fans of Capcom’s work: Leon, Chris and Rebecca. For this film, it will actually be Chris who will ask for the help of the two other cities in order to fulfill the following mission: to stop a “merchant of death” who intends to sow chaos in New York thanks to a powerful virus.
- Date of issue: The film was released on May 27, 2017.
- Duration: It lasts a total of 1 hour and 37 minutes.
- where to see: Resident Evil: Vendetta watch in full on Netflix.
Resident Evil: Island of Death
Resident Evil: Island of Deaththe most recent of the Resident Evil animated films, which will be released in 2023. Leon and Chris return to action once again, but this time with up to 2 popular female characters: Jill and Rebecca. In this feature film, we will see how different sources of zombie expansion around the world end up causing special agents to demand a thorough investigation of Alcatraz Island. What will they discover there?
- Date of issue: The film opens July 7, 2023.
- Duration😕
- where to see😕
And that’s all you need to keep in mind about the existing Resident Evil anime content. As you can see, the truth is that pretty much everything out there are movies at this point, which is why I wanted to focus on that for the title. Plus, given how often a new Resident Evil animated movie is released, it looks like they will continue to exist. more related to the promotional material of the video games than to their own content as such.
