Primavera Sound in Madrid: the festival arrives with free activities for the next few weeks

The solstice doesn’t lie: it’s already spring in Madrid… and Madrid is already spring. The imminent first edition of the festival His Primavera begins to sprout in many corners of the city, thus beginning a final stretch that will lead to the big week in Madrid. The urban festival model patented in Barcelona also reaches the capital: although the city ​​of rock de Arganda del Rey will host the main days of the festival from June 8 to 10, the concerts will spread to other parts of the city between June 5 and 11, welcoming the visit of more than 200 artists. But Primavera Sound will begin to spread through Madrid in the previous weeks and months, starting that same Saturday, March 25, without going any further.

The flowering of Primavera Sound Madrid 2023 is already a reality, as evidenced by the video directed by Martes Studio and produced by Vampire Films, in which the city itself announces the arrival of the festival. Something that will only grow in the coming weeks thanks to various activities that will show all the dimensions of the Primavera experience. A celebration of the musical event that will circulate through markets, cultural centers, record stores and concert halls, rooting itself in the cultural fabric of the Spanish capital in the most diverse way and bringing live music closer to its residents.

Spring in the markets

A city begins to be known for its markets, where local gastronomy meets the social act. Those of Madrid go even further to become nerve centers of multidisciplinary activity. Thus, the first step towards Primavera Sound Madrid could only be there: in March and April the festival will organize a series of musical aperitifs in the municipal markets, with free admission and surprises for the participants. On March 25 at the Barceló Market, midday will be animated by the spring punk-pop of the Madrid trio Petunias and the pass in the pop key indie dj. The Prosperity Market will take over on April 1, where we will rehearse dance steps with julia likes – alter ego of the Andorran Júlia Coll – and the dj set of the Chilean production company based in Madrid Fernanda Arrau. On April 15 it will be the turn of Mercado de la Paz, where Radio Primavera Sound will present a live edition of the podcast 620 BPMhosted by Ismael Silva and Daniel Galeano, followed by one of the always festive and unpredictable sessions of Umami. Spring experiences

On April 18 at Sala Clamores, the Fundació Primavera Sound will hold its first session of Primaveras Experiences in Madrid after the good reception that this free cycle for students has already had in Barcelona. In her, Paola Rivero, singer and vocalist from Cariño, will share with a group of young people the songs that marked his career, claiming music as a space for meeting and exchange. This is the excuse with which Primaveras Experiencias is celebrated: maybe someone doesn’t know how to make a song, but in the conversation that is generated around them, everyone is welcome.

San Isidro is the most important popular festival in Madrid and obviously Primavera Sound had to take an active part in it. If Primavera Sound comes to Madrid, Spring Sound comes to San Isidro. Thus, in the afternoon of Monday, May 15, precisely the central day of the patronal feasts, the festival will program four performances on the Matadero Madrid stage which perfectly summarize the idiosyncrasies of the festival and which will celebrate the arrival of the appointment in the capital The artists who will be part of the Primavera Sound stage in San Isidro will be announced shortly, but there is no doubt that this party will mark the unofficial start of the first edition of Primavera Sound Madrid.

Spring Pro in Madrid

It’s impossible to separate Primavera Sound from Primavera Pro, the meeting place for music industry professionals that has been held in Barcelona for more than a decade. On this occasion, Primavera Pro arrives in Madrid thanks to the first edition of the festival with a special format under the title of Web3 Music Summit: two days dedicated to Web3 and its links with the music industry organized by the Barcelona startup guzzu, highlighted by industry professionals as one of the most promising crossover projects between NFT, blockchain and music. On June 7 and 8, the Serrería Belga cultural space will host an intense program of conferences, debates and workshops with representatives of companies such as Warner, The Orchard and FWB that will surely contribute to elucidating the present and the technological future of the sector. .

At the same time, from June 5 to 9, the Halley Music Hub studios in Madrid will host the first edition of #FollowTheSong, an international composition camp born from the collaboration between Primavera Pro and Sony Music Publishing. An unprecedented creative event in our country where producers, artists and composers from all over the world will come together to shape shots of the future, making Madrid the epicenter of musical creation for a few days.
