Tomas Kosowski, 43, a plastic surgeon by profession, appeared in a Tampa court today on a serious charge of first degree murder.
And that charge is related to the disappearance of Pinallas County attorney Steven Cozzi, who represented a plastic surgery institute, Plastic Surgery of Tampa, in a lawsuit Dr. Kosowski filed against that center 4 years ago. .
Authorities say attorney Steven Cozzi was in his office on March 21 but was never seen leaving the building. His keys, wallet, and cell phone were on his desk.
Police found traces of blood in the bathroom of the law firm and detected the strong smell of a chemical, with which a large amount of blood had apparently been cleaned.
Today, the prosecution pointed out in court that a two-page report, attached to the arrest report, explains why the plastic surgeon was arrested.
The document says a white person, similar in size to Dr. Kosowski, is seen on surveillance video entering the attorney’s office, carrying a large box and a black backpack.
A doctor’s fingerprint has been identified on the company’s main switch.
According to the prosecutor’s document, in the surveillance video, the individual is seen leaving, moving the box into a transport cart, later placing it in a car.
The prosecution believes that this container is large enough to hide and transport the body of a person.
The vehicle seen on the surveillance video, a Toyota Tundra, was later located at the Dr.’s home in Tampa and in the car was a body armor stained with large amounts of blood, a taser gun, an iron glove, tape, syringes and an injectable muscle relaxant, succinylcholine, which is used to induce anesthesia by slowing breathing but can even paralyze it after being injected into the veins.
The prosecution considers this evidence sufficient to place Dr. Kosowski at the scene of the crime.
The plastic surgeon practiced in Tampa. However, in the Florida Health Professionals Registry, his medical practice is listed at 8396 Northwest 8th Street in Miami, where a plastic surgery clinic is now located.
