Miami Police confirmed that Dayana Gómez Sánchez, a 16-year-old teenager reported missing since Saturday night, was found dead on Sunday afternoon.

The body was in the 1200 block of Northeast and 79th Street, near Pelican Harbor Marina.

Gómez Sánchez went out for a run at 6:00 am on Saturday and since she did not return at nightfall, her relatives asked the police for help and also began to look for her where she used to go to exercise.

The family was posting posters with the photo of the young woman until the authorities confirmed the unfortunate news that at the moment is being investigated as a homicide.

The Miami authorities commented to the US media that there are no clues to be analyzed and they are also awaiting the results of the autopsy that will allow defining the crime.

The Miami-Dade Police request that any information that helps to clarify the fact be communicated to the line 305-471-TIPS.

“If you saw any activity that looked like a fight, a fight, any suspicious vehicle, anyone that might have been talking to someone who fits our victim’s description, we ask that you call the Miami Police Homicide Unit or Miami Dade Crime Stoppers,” said Miami Police Deputy Chief Armando Aguilar.
