Orlando Florida. – The Mexican Consulate commemorated International Women’s Day with free services just for women in Central Florida.

The 10th Feminist Women’s Day offered legal assistance, immigration diagnosis, IMSS membership, preventative health for women, and there was also a craft fair for indigenous women.

People who went to the 2550 Technology Dr. block in Orlando were also able to obtain their consular registration, e-passport, INE voting card, powers of attorney and marital status.

Karla Michelle Salas, a lawyer and human rights defender in Mexico, also came together to talk about women’s human rights and, above all, a life free from violence.

“Women’s human rights continue to be violated and we continue to experience gender-based violence not only in our homes, but in any space such as school, work and community. It is important to recognize what has been achieved so far, but to recognize that we still have a long way to go to achieve equality,” Salas said.

For his part, Juan José Sabines, Consul of Mexico in Orlando, said that “these are just women serving women who are full of empathy and where women can feel comfortable. We say that it is not to be celebrated because a woman is a woman who still suffers violence at home or there are still women who do not die and who kill them, well we still cannot celebrate anything”.
