Merche celebrates 20 years of career. The singer-songwriter began her musical journey in the early 2000s, giving us great songs like It’s you, open your mind or don’t ask me for more love.
The Cadiz woman can boast of being one of the most listened to female voices of the first decade of the 2000s. Now, the singer is celebrating, going to some of the shows of the moment to take stock of her career.
The last where you went? Nothing more and nothing less than What picture, the interview podcast of David Andújar and David Insua. The artist talked about some moments of his career.
On the show, Merche recalled that one of the most legendary phrases of her career could have been taken from one of her songs. The reason? The record company didn’t like it.
“They’ve never given me a problem. None of the record companies I’ve been to. Except once I sent a song. They said they loved the song and the theme was awesome, but first you have to take it off the sentence because nothing was going to work,” the singer recalled.
What sentence did the record company want to delete?
The line in question is one of the best known of Merche’s musical career: “Hi, how are you? I’m Merche.” This is the first verse of the song Distancia from his album Auténtica, released in 2004.
Of course, sometimes you have to let the artists let their intuitions follow. And that’s because they often understand better than anyone how their songs work.
