Confirmation of Anthony’s passing was made by Joe Henry, a musician who is married to Melanie Ciccone, another of Madonna’s sisters from Michigan, through their official social media profiles. Joe shared a touching message bidding farewell to his brother-in-law:

“Last night, my brother-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone, left this earth plane. I’ve known him since he was 15 years old, and we’ve spent many years together in the springtime of our lives in Michigan. As his brother Dave Henry noted (who took this picture), ‘Anthony was a complex character, and God knows we got tangled up at times, as real brothers can. But I loved him, and I understood him better than I was sometimes willing to let go. But problems fade away, and the family remains, hands joined on the table. Farewell, Brother Antoine. I want to think that the God your blessed mother (and mine) believed in has you there, waiting to receive you. At least for today, no one will dissuade me from this vision,'” Joe’s message read.
Anthony had cut ties with his family after experiencing several tragic personal situations, including breaking off his relationship with his father and sister. “In her eyes, I’m a zero, a disgrace to her, living in her own bubble. If I were to freeze to death, my family probably wouldn’t know or care. My dad would be very happy if I died of hypothermia,” he shared in an interview with a local Michigan newspaper.
After spending almost a decade living on the streets, Anthony decided to accept help from his family to rehabilitate his alcohol problems and overcome poverty.

As of now, Madonna has not posted any response on her social media or any media platform regarding this unexpected family tragedy, despite recently starting her rehabilitation and receiving support from her family once again.
