A 20,000-square-foot piece of hillside crept into a Pacific Palisades home on Sunday night, displacing the family who live there and a neighbor from the home above.

The slip occurred at 949 N. Las Lomas Ave. at 7:50 p.m., according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

The incident was described as a “calf” involving the upper layers of soil, Prange said.

A cliff cave-in in Malibu has forced authorities to warn the public to avoid the Little Due area.

A family of four adults and four children went to stay with their relatives.

“An elderly man from the house on the affected hill was evacuated as a precaution,” Prange said.

No injuries were reported, he said.

“Firefighters have secured all utilities, have asked the Department of Building and Safety to respond to assess the integrity of the structure, and are denying access to the area for public safety,” Prange said.

A classification inspector and a geologist were to intervene on Monday to assess the situation in broad daylight.
