It sure looks like we’re more in the business of a remake than a sequel to the franchise.
The new anime of “Kinnikuman“, which for many in Spain will sound more like “Muslim”, is a reality for a few days. In effect, Toei-Animation didn’t let the brand’s 40th anniversary pass without further ado, and after more than a decade without new content, it was decided it was time to reclaim one of the great classic anime icons from ‘stock. At the moment there is still a lot of mystery surrounding this project, but today they left us a nice gift: the first image of the anime.

And now we are going to comment on a series of things about the image, which I think are necessary:
- To begin with, it’s time to say that the anime’s format has already been finalized. It’s a new anime series, which is to say that anyway it will not be a tribute film or something similar.
- On the other hand, what It remains to be clarified whether Kinnikuman’s new anime will be a remake or a sequel.. I bet more on the former though.
- Can’t say I’m a fan of Kinnikuman since I hadn’t gotten into the anime at the time, it was too small, but I’ve seen the protagonist and sequel protagonist and It seems to me that the character in the picture is more clearly the first than the second.
- For now no specific date was given for the anime’s final reveal, so we just have to wait for Shueisha and Toei Animation to give us little hints like this.
Honestly, at the rate we’re going, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was for the AnimeJapan next week that the anime of “Kinnikuman” is officially revealed. After all, this seems like an ideal scenario to me to finish shaping a comeback as classic as this anime is. In any case, what has been said: for the moment there is little more than to wait.
