“It does not affect my rights”: the PAN candidate for the governorship of Chihuahua will continue in the campaign despite being linked to the process

After it was announced that the licensed mayoress and candidate for governor of Chihuahua for the National Action Party (PAN), María Eugenia Campos Galván was linked to a process for the crime of bribery, she assured that their political rights to vote and be voted are intact.

Through a message to the media, the candidate of the PAN assured that the linkage It does not mean guilt, or that they have confirmed the accusations that are made.

“The link to the process that has been defined today does not mean that the public prosecutor has been right, nor does it mean that their accusations have been confirmed. The definition of the judge is not binding for a criminal responsibility ”, he said in his message given to the media by Campos Galván.

He mentioned that he has confidence in the judicial system, and said he was “Knowing the consequences, I decided to face the formulation of the accusation. However, as the judge referred, this in no way alters the treatment of presumption of innocence that should be kept on my person ”.

He said that the formal investigation process is just beginning, and that it will take time for the investigations to be unleashed, he also pointed out that “Many of the evidence that was mentioned today must be brought by judicial control, because at this initial stage the prosecution did not allow us to access them properly.”

He assured that there are those who will say that with the hearing the crime or the guilt against her is proven, but he said that this was false, he also made it clear that the connection was not a sentence, and that therefore his political rights to vote were not affected. and to be voted, and said that she will enter the electoral campaign with great confidence and strength.

“For this reason, I want to make it very clear that this relationship is not a sentence and that is why it does not affect my political rights to vote and be voted, so we will enter the electoral campaign with great confidence and strength, because now there is one more reason to fight so that the institutions fulfill their vocation and serve the Chihuahuas, and not only serve the persecution that has long been unleashed against me, from the state government and its political allies, building artificially a case that would allow them to continue with the personal and political persecution against a servant and hand over the state to MORENA ”, Campos sentenced.

She said she was determined to prevent what happens to her from happening to anyone else, as she mentioned, Chihuahuas do not deserve a government that placed its success in their persecution, and dedicated forces and resources of the state in the persecution based on lies, “instead of attending to the most felt needs of the population.”

He pointed out that in the legal field, he will continue to provide what is necessary to demonstrate that the accusations against him are false, and that the process against him is a political persecution based on falsified statements, fabrication of evidence, use of institutions, threats and a collusion of political actors, figures of the state government and other parties , with the intention of spreading lies, deceive citizens and damage the relationship of trust that she has built with Chihuahuas.

“We are a few hours away from starting the electoral campaign, and I want to tell you that they are not going to stop us, that even with the process, we are going to go out to the entire state to conquer souls to change the future of all of Chihuahua.”

She appreciated the support that her family and close people have given her, and said that her “adversaries” would use this to openly question her and in their “dirty war.”

According to the investigations of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), Campos Galván is allegedly responsible for accepting at least 10.4 million pesos in bribes from the former governor of Chihuahua César Duarte.

The supposed relationship established between the PRI and the PAN is clear from the investigations carried out in the case known as the “Secret Payroll”, where a network of bribery and corruption was discovered to buy the wills of different public officials, with the purpose that Duarte Jaquez could operate its alleged embezzlements with total impunity.

María Eugenia Campos Galván, better known as Maru Campos, was linked to the process on Thursday for her alleged participation in the so-called “Secret Payroll” of the former governor of the entity César Duarte.

In a hearing that lasted approximately 42 hours, the control judge Samuel Uriel Mendoza Rodríguez accepted the evidence presented by the Public ministry and highlighted that as they were not refuted by the defense of the licensed mayor, they were taken as evidence of the crimes charged.

Apart from her, the former legislators Maria Avila, of the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM), and Rodrigo de la Rosa, of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), were also linked to the process due to the data indicated in file 2821/2020.
