The documentary “Patria y Vida: The Power of Music” will premiere on March 5 during the Miami International Film Festival.

The film tells the story behind the song that has become the anthem of the Cuban people’s struggle for freedom.

In her directorial debut, Spanish actress, composer and singer Beatriz Luengo tackles the phenomenon of the song that set a city on fire.

Singer Yotuel Romero, Luengo’s husband, explains the impact of the song, the reality of artists like Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara and Maykel Osorbo, whose daughter appears in the documentary.

It also refers to artists who visit the island and ignore Cuba’s lack of human rights.
