A Golden Beach police sergeant has been discharged from surgery and is in stable condition after being shot twice during a police chase in Hollywood on Saturday, authorities said.
At approximately 3:15 a.m. Saturday, the Sunny Isles Police Department and Golden Beach Police Department were attempting to stop a stolen car heading north on Ocean Boulevard, when the suspects attempted to drive north on Hallandale Boulevard , but they lost control of the car.
Officers pursued the two suspects on foot, at which point Golden Beach Sergeant Joseph Bautista was shot twice in the arm and taken to Hollywood Memorial Regional Hospital where he underwent surgery and was later in a steady state.
Two suspects, identified as Jordan Elijah Christophe, 23, and Marvens Vauze DeClasse, 28, were arrested at the scene and taken into custody by authorities.
Christophe faces a variety of charges, including attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft of a vehicle, grand theft of a firearm, resisting an officer, among others. While DeClasse faces charges of stealing a vehicle and resisting an officer without violence.
