Driver loses control and hits two cars and a car wash worker in New Jersey

NEW JERSEY — A New Jersey car wash worker was seriously injured on the job Sunday when a driver lost control and struck the man, throwing him nearly 50 feet.

Verona police say the 41-year-old who worked at Quality Car Care Car Wash was detailing a car in front of the business when a driver driving down Bloomfield Avenue lost control.

The driver, a 75-year-old man, skidded on the road and hit a worker on Sunday evening. Police said the force of the impact sent the man flying, leaving him seriously injured. He finally stopped after hitting two cars and a utility pole.

Emergency workers took the victim to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson.

According to the police, the driver was slightly injured and transported to the same hospital. They also said he remained at the scene. No arrests or criminal charges have been announced.
