People’s memes and dreams ended up materializing into something real and it was impossible to predict.. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is on the way from Bandai Namco and aims to be another great fighting game that will surely appeal to an even larger audience than Dragon Ball FighterZ.

With all the commotion about the official announcement of this job, I started thinking about something that many of you may not know or have just forgotten over time. Why is this series of games called Budokai Tenkaichi? It’s time to clear things up once and for all, though die-hard fans of Akira Toriyama’s story surely already know the answer.

A direct reference to anime manga

  • Tenkaichi Budokai was the name used by Toriyama-sensei to refer to the martial arts tournaments what happened in the world of Dragon Ball
  • This choice of words has also been used to convey the idea of “Strongest Under Heaven”which indicates that in these tournaments the most powerful person on earth was sought
  • Therefore, it can be concluded that Spike (developer of the games) and Bandai Namco Entertainment have agreed calling these fighting titles Budokai Tenkaichi in honor of the tournaments that appeared in the series original
  • And curiously this series of games is not called like that in Japan, but there it is called Dragon Ball Z: Sparks!

What do we know about Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4?

The only negative aspect of the official announcement of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 It is that Bandai Namco Entertainment has hardly shared any details about its development or its main characteristics. In the youease of presentation it is implied that there is still a long time to go before it goes on sale, and at this time it has only been confirmed that Goku SSB as a controllable character.

Maybe later this year we’ll see some kind of gameplay, but honestly, I wouldn’t expect much until 2024. Hope I’m wrong!
