Do I have unclaimed funds?

If you want to know if any unclaimed money belongs to you, you can check on this website. All you have to do is enter your last name (or a few more details if that returns too many results). Try to misspell your name, just to be sure, if nothing comes up on an initial search.

It is also worth researching the names of your loved ones, especially those who are deceased. The accounts date back to the 1940s and officials say you may be entitled to these funds.

New Jersey and Connecticut also have offices that handle unclaimed funds. The money is often checks sent to the wrong address that never cleared. Most of them come in quantities of $50 or $100, but you never know.
