NEW YORK — The App Warn NYC New York City’s Emergency Notification System for New Yorkers now has two new alerts that could save lives.

And it is that now the inhabitants of the Big Apple will be able to receive two new types of messages: one on police notices, that is to say information from their local police station, and another on alerts of basement, which refers to weather information that could affect the safety of those living in basement apartments.

The latter, which is aimed at New Yorkers who live in basement apartments, was created after the tragic deaths of 11 people in flooded basements during the historic passage of Hurricane Ida in September 2021.

To acquire these emergency messages, people can visit “My account“o My account at http://NYC.gov/notifynyc to update your settings.
