NEW JERSEY – The Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) will restart water service cuts in April for customers who are behind on their water bills. The decision comes because the state program that avoided shutting down service during the winter months ended March 15.

According to the company, 9,000 properties in various cities, including Paterson, Passaic and Clifton, owe about $14 million in unpaid bills.

“We understand that these are difficult times for many of our customers, and we have done everything in our power to work with them and provide support where possible,” said Jim Mueller, CEO of PVWC. . “However, as a public service, we also have a responsibility to ensure that our customers pay for the services they receive.

PVWC also claimed to have made several attempts to notify customers of their outstanding balances.
