Ángel Correa, an 85-year-old homeless man, thanks the community for the solidarity that the community has shown them since the story of him and two other homeless people who, at an advanced age, slept on the streets, after having summer they were evicted from the apartment in which they lived.

“Thank you very much and God bless you all. I’m delighted…” he said.

She can’t contain her emotions when she sees that Telemundo 51 viewers have donated over a thousand dollars since watching her story yesterday.

Ángel, 85, and his friend, 78, who has lung cancer, ended up on the street when the owner of the place where they paid told them they had to leave and they couldn’t couldn’t find any rent to pay.

Agustín Balboa, homeless at 78, says: “Very grateful for what they can, we will thank them.”

Today we meet Ángel in the courtyard of the Camillus house, where he has been living for 6 days today, but he does not lose hope of finding a place that he and his friend can rent.

He says that on the 914 he’s been cashing in on since retirement he wants to pay his rent: “I’m a man who likes to pay, I’ve always done that.”

Angel came to the United States in 1968.

“I was fine, thank God I worked like a mule and until now I retired, I never thought I would be like this.”

Today we spoke with Hilda Fernández, the director of Camillus House, who explained to us that there are many older people like them.

“Here 70 people, but on top of that, another 270 people, people already in the third age…”

Agustín assures that “they are going through the process to find us an apartment now”.

But the director explains to us that they are not the only ones. “Here I have a brother and sister who are over 80, and they already have approved aid, but they can’t find apartments for the maximum the federal government can pay.”

For example, the maximum assistance that the federal government can give to a person to pay the rent for one bedroom is $1,546 per month and $1,923 for two bedrooms.

Agustín says: “I don’t know how long it will take, we will wait. I’m better, I still have hope.”
