In a message yesterday, at around 4 p.m., from his account on the social network, the official indicated that a citizen called anonymously to report about a semi-trailer that arrived at a residence in Weslaco.
Weslaco is located about 12 miles north of the Mexican border.
“A concerned citizen called to report that a tractor-trailer truck pulled up to a residence located in the area of Mile 12 1/2 N & Mile 6W and saw people getting out of the trailer. Officers working with OPSG (Operation Stonegarden) & USBP (Border Patrol) agents responded and rescued 84 immigrants. The investigation continues,” Guerra announced.
The sheriff accompanied the message with a photo of the cargo vehicle and another of the group of immigrants, made up of men and women, sitting in a line on the ground above ground.
There have been no updates on the health status of foreigners or the immigration procedures they face.
