A woman was killed and a man injured after being hit by an out-of-control car as they walked on a sidewalk in Sunrise on Monday morning, police said.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. when a Toyota traveling northbound on University Drive veered off the road at Oakland Park Boulevard.
The vehicle struck a utility pole and then struck two pedestrians walking on the sidewalk, Sunrise Police said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man, who was also struck, was taken to Broward General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle and a passenger were not injured and remained at the scene.
No other details of the crash, which is under investigation, were provided.
