A student was taken into custody after bringing a loaded handgun, which was confiscated, to a Lauderdale Lakes elementary school on Tuesday.
The incident happened at Park Lakes School on North State Road 7 in the Broward town of Lauderdale Lakes.
Several Broward police units are at the school, which was placed under lock and key while proceedings were underway.
No injuries or other incidents were reported.
The school principal informed the parents and said that the security team had confiscated a loaded weapon from a student’s backpack.
