Next Friday March 24 is on sale 50th anniversary reissue from the album Honky Castle of Elton John. An album that marked Elton’s definitive leap to world stardom, as it features some of his great songs such as The Rocket Man, honky cat there The Mona Lisa and the Mad Hatters.
Published in May 1972, it was his fifth studio album and the first who recorded in the legendary Herouville Castle, a recording studio/residence located 40 km northwest of Paris (hence its title). It is here that he and Bernie Taupin composed, and the group recorded, some of the the biggest hits of her career.
Elton, Bernie and the band (playing together on a recording for the first time) camped at the Chateau for several weeks of pre-production for Honky Chateau in January 1972. Bernie brought his typewriter and the band set up the equipment in the dining room. bedroom. Bernie used to write the lyrics at night and leave them on Elton’s piano for him to work on in the morning..

50th anniversary reissue
This 50th anniversary reissue contains the original album and a new one output selection extracts from the original tapes of the session in which the humor and the warm atmosphere that prevailed are evident. This form 2 CDs contains eight live songs recorded during the concert of the Royal Festival Hall in 1972 (these songs were created live, just a few days after being recorded at the Château), plus a limited edition on gold vinyl. It also includes a booklet 40 pages with eight pages of Pictures not very well-known, memories and a test with interviews to those who were there at the time.
Glastonbury 2023 headliner
The singer will perform in the main act of the Glastonbury in 2023, one of the UK’s most important music festivals in the world.
