Over the years, the skin suffers damage and requires more and more care, the pores dilate, annoying wrinkles appear and many times our skin becomes stained and the passage of time is more and more visible. We spoke with Dr. Paola Silva, an anesthesiologist and specialist in aesthetic medicine, who told us about regenerative therapy with exosomes, the latest in biotechnology for skin rejuvenation and regeneration.

What are exosomes?

“They are small vesicles from 30 to 200 nm that derive from stem cells of human adipose tissue.”

How do they work? “They function as messengers that mediate the positive behavior of the cell. They stimulate cell growth and proliferation, the generation of melanocytes in the skin, the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid.”

What are the benefits for the skin?

“They have many benefits for the skin, regenerate and repair it, stimulate fibroblasts with greater synthesis of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, help form new blood vessels and vascular permeability, reduce induced oxidative stress, expression lines fine, hyperpigmentation due to photodamage or melasma, atrophic scars (aftermath of acne). They generate a tensor effect, reducing flaccidity, unifying skin tone, and have a great antioxidant effect”. “They improve the hydration, quality and texture of the skin as a whole, they are wonderful.”

How long can the results be seen?

“The results are seen from the first session, however, depending on the patient’s skin conditions, 3 to 6 sessions are recommended.” “In 7 days you will see a noticeable change in your skin, at first you may notice that it flakes a little and at 28 days you will be able to see how your skin looks totally different in a positive way.”

How does it apply?

“It is applied with any micro-puncture system, be it dermapen or nanopor or even fractionated laser, which helps to make micro channels in the skin and this favors them reaching the dermis and having the best possible effect, in addition, the exosome treatment is mixed with a regenerative shoot that contains hyaluronic acid, peptides, vitamins, minerals, retinol and growth factors. It is a life boom for the skin”.

What is the ideal patient for this treatment?

“Anyone over the age of 35, people who want to have rejuvenation and/or treat acne sequels also get good results.”

Post treatment recommendations

“Immediately after the treatment, I recommend a phototherapy session that helps reduce inflammation and also regenerate. Avoid applying any cream or product after the first few hours, then you can apply sunscreen, no sauna or steam after a week and do not use products with vitamin c or retinol as the skin is sensitive.
