Onyxia is not a threat to speedrunners

There are two groups of players in World of Warcraft: those with too much time and those who cannot waste a second. The latter also includes the members of the Gold Boys PUG guild. Because they did the brood mother Onyxia in just 45 seconds – in WoW Classic.

We will now explain to you how they did it.

How does it go so fast?

With a total of 34 players they took on the fight in World of Warcraft: Classic. However, the group was far from balanced. There was no trace of healers or support. Instead, a whole array of DPS classes was fired at the dragon lady.

The fight against onyxia: Because the raid consisted of 25 warriors and nine villains and was pushed up with Bufffood to drive the values to the limit. Onyxia was little more than a regular opponent for the team. The fight was over so quickly that the dragon barely managed to go into its second phase.

New record: They were a full 22 seconds faster than the Guild Genesis, which took 1:07 minutes for this fight. Thus, the Gold Boys PUG hold the current world record, while Genesis only finds itself in second place, followed by One Percent and Nilfheim, who both needed 1:08.

Das Speedrunner-Festival: This speedrun is mainly made possible by World Buffs, which all players can receive during the annual Darkmoon Fair. You can use this to increase a value such as your damage for a full two hours. The ideal time for speed runners, for whom every second counts.

The fastest players

Speed running is not only found in World of Warcraft, but in all kinds of games. And although the actual runs are over very quickly, the preparation often takes a lot of time. Because you have to know the respective games extremely well.

An example of this is the first level of Doom. Because the speed runners are now so good at this that it is hardly possible to improve the record any further. So you have achieved absolute perfection. In 2019, a 22-year active record was broken there when the player 4shockblast was the first to finish the level under nine seconds.

But the projects are not always crowned with success. A particularly unique speed run of a long game ended in 2019 after four days just because of a bug.
