In Ark: Survival Evolved, players can obtain several very important resources to help them on their journey through the Arks. Polymer, while it may not seem like the biggest or most obvious choice to be at the top of the leaderboard for important resources, is definitely something players should hold on to. In this guide, we will explore where to find Organic Polymer in Ark: Survival Evolved.

What is the difference between the two types of polymers in Ark: Survival Evolved?

There are two types of polymers players can obtain, organic and simple polymers. Plain Polymer is something players can craft in the Fabricator by combining resources. However, it is a much more expensive option than organic polymer. To craft Polymer, you will need the following items for a Polymer part:

  • 2x obsidian.
  • 2x cementing paste.

Organic Polymer is a free resource to obtain, and you’ll earn it by killing and harvesting specific mobs and items. The downside to organic polymer is that it goes bad in 30 minutes if you don’t store it in a fridge or dedicated storage compartment.

The method of obtaining Organic Polymer is generally the same on most maps, including The Island, Ragnarok, The Center, Lost Island, Valguero, Scorched Earth, Fjordur, Genesis: Part 1, and Genesis: Part 2.

You will have to kill and harvest specific creatures or nodes that exist on the maps. For Valguero, you’ll find Ichthyosaur Carcasses washed up on beaches, which you can harvest for Organic Polymers, as well as head to the Aberration Zone to collect White Bulb Flowers with a Dire Bear.

The creatures that drop a large amount of Organic Polymer when killed and harvested are Mantis, Herperornis, Karkinos, and Kairuku. Most cards will have at least one of these creatures on them. Remember that Bloodstalkers and Moschops are excellent collectors of organic polymers.

So players can head to the red zone to find the white bulb plants to harvest. Using an Aberrant Dire Bear will return a large amount of Organic Polymer or a Mining Drill.
