It can be hard to keep up with the endless, fast-paced trends on the internet these days. It used to be that people loved watching unboxing videos, but now, as Wired reports, it seems the tide has reversed, with people now wanting unboxing videos.

Videos with the packagingorders hashtag currently have a total of 9 billion views on TikTok, and mostly consist of brands showing off custom orders they’ve created for customers. Pamela Rutledge, a media psychologist who has written about unboxing before, says the unboxing videos have “All the appeal of unboxing, plus the certainty that what you’re looking at is just for you.”

Some companies even manage to make extra money for their packaging videos. Brittney Applegate charges customers an additional $8 to have their order packaged for them. However, he says it’s not about the money and by getting paid he can just pick more orders in the day without filming them.
