Hailing from the sunny streets of Los Angeles, Valorant’s newest agent, Gekko, is a similar initiator to the FPS game’s resident ecologist, Skye, but instead of animal totems, he uses slimy little creatures called “friends” to break through the enemy ranks and cause absolute chaos.

Dancing on Valorant’s character roster to up-and-coming rapper Ericdoa, Gekko stands out from the crowd with his neon green hair, brown plaid pants, and most importantly, his tetrad of adorable creatures.

Dizzy, Mosh, Thrash, and Wingman each have their own unique abilities and play a key role on Gekko’s team. Narrative writer Joe Kileen points out that the so-called friends are “characters themselves”, and lead game director Jon Goscicki claims that their mere existence has made designing Gekko as difficult as “trying to create four super distinct creatures”. love “. , while keeping them within certain limits of play, it is … difficult.”

Either way, Riot has achieved their goals with Gekko, as their floating friends are absolutely adorable. They vaguely remind me of all the slimes in Slime Rancher 2, and if the devs don’t decide to make plushies out of them, I’ll make Riot (ha ha, pun funny).

Valorous Gekko Abilities

As I mentioned earlier, Gekko’s adorable little creatures each lend themselves to different parts of your kit. Here are all of Gekko’s abilities in Valorant:

  • seasick (E) – Equip Dizzy. Shoot to send Dizzy flying through the air. Dizzy Charges then unleashes plasma blasts on enemies in line of sight. Enemies hit by its plasma are blinded. When Dizzy expires, he becomes a dormant blood cell again. Interact to collect the Globule and get another Vertigo charge after a short cooldown.
  • Companion (Q) – Equip Wingman. Fire to send Wingman searching for enemies. Wingman fires a concussion at the first enemy he sees. Alternate fire when targeting a Spike point or planting Spike to cause Wingman to disable or plant the Spike. To plant, Gekko must have the Spike in his inventory. When Wingman expires, he becomes a dormant blood cell again. Interact to collect the Globule and get another Wingman charge after a short cooldown.
  • Mosh’s Well (C) – Equip Mosh. Shoot to throw Mosh like a grenade. Alternate shot to be launched from below. Upon landing, Mosh duplicates in a large area, then after a short delay, it explodes.
  • Beat (X) – Team thrash. Shoot to connect to Thrash’s spirit and guide her through enemy territory. Activate to dash forward and explode, stopping all enemies in a small radius. When Thrash expires, he reverts to a dormant glob. Interact to collect the Globule for another Thrash charge after a short cooldown. Thrash can be claimed once.

I’m a little obsessed with all of Gekko’s abilities just because they’re so cute, but his Wingman (Q) feels incredibly powerful. Having a creature plant or pickaxe while playing and clearing the site is a huge bonus, and I can immediately see that it’s very powerful in both low-level and competitive play.

Valorant’s new agent, Gekko, will launch alongside Episode 6, Act 2 on March 7. and it seems like the perfect choice to help you progress through the ranks in Valorant. Character selection is only part of the puzzle, however, as you’ll need one of Valorant’s best goggles to help you land your shots.
