Today Ubisoft announced the Closed Beta dates for XDefiant, a dizzy shooter arcade free to play Developed by Ubisoft San Francisco and featuring factions inspired by one of Ubisoft’s most popular franchises. The closed beta starts today and will last until April 23. The beta will feature cross-play, so players can enjoy XDefiant on PC, PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. Those wishing to participate in the closed beta can register at www.playxdefiant.com.

The Closed Beta will introduce the XDefiant Stadium, with a number of features available at launch:

  • The 14 cards that will be playable when the game is launched.
  • Four factions inspired by Ubisoft franchises.
  • 24 weapons.
  • 44 accessories.
  • five explosive devices

Players will be able to experience what it’s like to play as one of four factions inspired by the Ubisoft franchises: the Cleaners (The division), Freedom (far cry 6), Echelon (Burst cell) and Ghosts (Ghosts of Ghost Recon). Factions have three characters each, but only one of the three will be unlocked; the rest can be obtained by completing missions.

While players won’t be able to save their progress when the game launches, they will be able to save up to 10 exclusive cosmetic items at launch.

XDefiant kicked off today’s Closed Beta with a presentation on Ubisoft’s official Twitch and YouTube channels, including a deeper look at the game, a season roadmap, a Q&A featuring Mark Rubin (executive producer) and a ranked exhibition match led by streamers Patrick Price (“Aches”) and Jonathan Tucker (“Pacman”).
