Two of the developers behind Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics and studio Embracer Edios Montreal, are set to release five AAA games by March 2028.

As VGC reports (opens in a new tab), Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors provided an update on the company during a quarterly earnings presentation on February 16, 2023. During the presentation, Wingefors reveals that the studios plan to launch five triple-A games by March 2028, and knowing what we know about the group, that should include games like a new Tomb Raider game and Perfect Dark.

Wingefors también defines the meaning of a AAA game for the company, revealing that it will take more than 100 desarrolladores de tiempo completo trabajando en él en la cima de su fase de desarrollo, así como important presupuestos de marketing, y se espera que venda al menos two million. units. This should give us an idea of the kind of games we can expect from former Square Enix studios in the years to come.

As we already know, a Perfect Dark remake has been in development with Crystal Dynamics and The Initiative for a few years now. It doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s probably safe to assume, since we first heard in 2020, that it could be one of the games to be released before March 2028.

There’s also the previously announced Unreal Engine 5 Tomb Raider game that we recently found out Amazon will release, likely within the next five years, as well as the rumored Deus Ex game that’s said to be “very early in development.”

In addition to all of these games, Wingefors also revealed that Embracer plans to release 31 AAA games (of which apparently only six have been announced) which will include collaboration with other companies like Gearbox Entertainment, Saber Interactive, THQ Nordic, and more. Again.
