The latest Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom revealed that a zombie-like enemy is making a return, and fans are completely missing it.

If you watch the trailer (opens in a new tab) for yourself, you’ll notice a towering skeletal figure in a mask rising from the ground of a shady field. It would be a Redead, a recurring enemy in the series that appears in everyone’s favorite games, from Ocarina of Time to Majora’s Mask. The design varies here and there, but their behavior is pretty consistent: they don’t move much, and they use a petrifying stare to make sure you don’t move much either.

It’s hard to say how much they’ll change when Tears of the Kingdom launches later this year, though fans are eager to find out. Aside from the odd nod in games like Super Smash Bros, the last time we saw ReDead was Tri Force Heroes, a game released for Nintendo 3DS in 2015. Those are just some of the reactions.

That’s not all fans saw in the trailer, either. There’s a popular theory that a three-headed dragon seen on a bridge is Gleeok, which we haven’t seen in over 16 years since its appearance in Phantom Hourglass. You’re also voiced by Calamity Ganon, though we don’t know who the voice actor is; current bets are Matthew Mercer, known primarily for his roles in Critical Role and The Legend of Vox Machina.
