While the first season of The Last of Us has just ended on HBO, Neil Druckmann announces that the series will benefit from a season 3.

The Last of Us will indeed have a season 2, now it’s recorded. The first season has just ended with the ninth episode broadcast this evening on HBO in the United States, and this is inevitably the occasion for one of the main actors of this success, the producer Neil Druckmann, to approach the future. If we can potentially discern what should happen in season 2 (since it should pick up a lot of elements from the second game), however, there remains a gray area when it comes to the future of the series.

The Last of Us: Is season 3 already planned?

Indeed, GQ was able to interview the producer, who was first able to indicate that season 2 could be very different from the second game. What’s more, while GQ asks him” How will the next season bring together all the events of the second game? »Druckmann simply replies: it’s more than a season“. Which seems to imply that The Last of Us may well be entitled to at least two new seasons, which will chronicle the events of The Last of Us Part II.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but based on the TV success of The Last of Us, HBO may be supporting this project for a while. It remains to be seen whether Druckmann and his team will release the sequel to the adventures of Ellie (and Joel?) first via a new game or first via the TV series. Anyway, the universe created by Naughty Dog seems to have very good days ahead of it, as long as the bellows will not fall with the second season!
