What is the best moveset for Groudon in Pokémon Go?
Groudon is a Ground-type Pokémon. It is weak to Grass, Ice, and Water-type moves, but resistant to Electric, Poison, and Rock-type attacks. You’ll mostly use it in five-star raids and against other Master League players. Groudon doesn’t have a massive presence in the Great or Ultra leagues due to his max stats, where he can really unleash his power.

Quick movements
- Dragon Tail (Dragon-type): 9 damage and 3.3 energy (3 damage per turn)
- Mud Shot (Ground-type): 3 damage and 4.5 damage (1.5 damage per turn)
Mud Shot is usually the best option to choose between these two quick moves. While it doesn’t do as much damage as Dragon Tail, Mud Shot has much higher energy generation to allow the ground to unleash its strongest charged attacks. Dragon Tail is a suitable option, and not a terrible choice for Groudon, but it’s not recommended.

When we go for two charged attacks for Groudon, we almost always go for Precipice Blades and Fire Punch. Fire Punch is an awesome attack for Groudon as it doesn’t cost too much energy and deals a decent amount of damage. Additionally, Groudon can spam during a battle, potentially causing an opponent’s shield to be used. Before Precipice Blades became available, Earthquake was the best option, but now Precipice Blades does more damage than Earthquake and doesn’t require as much energy. It’s a direct upgrade and a must-have attack for Groudon.
The best moveset to teach Groudon in Pokemon Go is the quick move Mud Shot and the charged attacks Fire Punch and Precipice Blades.
